Hello all,
Today we had a boat trip scheduled for a tour of the Benagil sea caves, which are located near the city of Portimão, Portugal. The tour was set for 11:30 so we all piled into our rental Toyota Corolla and then headed that direction. It was around a 40 minute car ride and we climbed aboard our tour boat. The tour started off with us passing some large yachts in the marina of Portimão. And then very soon after we were greeted with many gorgeous sea caverns, caves, and archways.

The tour went for around 2 hours, so we got back to where we parked in order to grab our lunch, which we ate quickly because during the boat tour, we saw a walking path where people were going inside some of the cliffs and looking through some of the holes like coastal windows. We decided to eat our lunch quickly so we could do some in-person investigation on that area.
Once we arrived at the area which was actually in the next town over, Carvoeiro, along a walking path called Algar Seco, we started doing some climbing around the cliffs, checked out some tide pools, and generally explored a the very pretty area! (Parent note: I did a lot of research about hikes and things to see in this area of Portugal, but fairing the boat trip was the first I had heard of the Algar Seco, which is not just a trail but an area along the cliffs. We were amazing during the boat ride when we saw people walking through tunnels midway up the cliff sides how nice to have a car so we could just pop on over! For anyone traveling to this area, the Algar Seco is a must see. No entrance fee; just paths along and down into the cliffs. Truly amazing.)

When we all got done hiking up, down, and in the cliffside of the Benagil area we all once again piled into the car and drove back towards the Airbnb. On our way back we stopped at the supermarket to pick up some dinner food for tonight and tomorrow. (Parent note: obviously a "front-seater" wrote this post. Getting to the Intermarché, the large supermarket in Lagos we typically walk to daily, was a highlight for the four back-seaters because we were able to crawl out of the car and stretch out our cramped muscles. Three of us opted to walk home from the store rather than cram back into the car for even just a few more minutes!)
After getting back home, Matt, Jen, and Gage were tired so they stayed back while Kayla, Griffin, and Connor all went on a stroll down to the beach to catch the sunset over the ocean. (Parent note: I object to the designation of being tired - in fact it was the call of the tasty sangria my husband whipped up along with feeling a slight responsibility to plan/prepare dinner for the troops before the sangria kicked in! Fortunately Matt did most of the cooking since sangria kicks in fairly quickly for some of us - including a rush back to the store to buy better pasta sauce when he realized we had inadvertently bought the "spagetti-o's" tasting sauce for the second time. Yuck!)

Tune in tomorrow for what's bound to be another great Portuguese day!
- Connor
Parent note: I guess we aren't going to learn more about the engagement from Connor. Post in the comments if you want to hear and maybe somebody will give some more detail!
