Palamósing Things (03/03/2024)

Hello all,

Today was a restful morning for most of our crew today. Most of us (all except the parents) chose to sleep in until around 10:30-11 this morning. As such, it was a pretty slow morning and because of that by the time everyone had got up for the day it was basically lunch time. However, while everyone else was sleeping, Matt and Jen took their morning and not only went to the store, but also checked out the Museu de la Pesca (Fishing Museum), which is free for all visitors the first Sunday of each month.

By the time the parents returned home, everyone else was awake and Kayla and Connor had started to make lunch for everyone else (except Jen, who wasn't having Shrimp & Spaghetti Carbonara). Once lunch was done, Kayla, Connor, and Griffin all went to the Museu de la Pesca to catch it before it closed at 2PM. Gage, Matt, and Jen stayed back at the house during this time. When we got to the museum it was almost 1:30 and the museum tour starts with a 5-10 minute movie that Matt and Jen had watched in English when they went earlier. However, when we arrived there was only one more showing before close and that one would be in Catalan (the native language of the Catalonia area of Spain (similar to Spanish)). Since we had already arrived and didn't want to come back later we decided to just watch it in Catalan before proceeding into the museum. Inside the museum was mostly filled with old fishing artifacts.

Once our tour finished we headed back outside, and the museum is located right in a marina where many of the fishing boats are located. In the marina there were hundreds of wild jellyfish right next to many of the boats. This was especially cool for Griffin and Connor who had never seen living wild jellyfish!

Weirdly, most of the jellyfish were clustered around areas with lots of floating debris most of which had likely been washed into the harbor during the morning showers.

After that, we split up, Griffin went back to the Airbnb where both he and Gage went and kicked the soccer (fútbol) ball around for a bit. Connor and Kayla went on a walk down the southwest side of the beach. Unbeknownst to them at the time, Jen had the same idea and we didn't end up bumping into each other until the end of the boardwalk. During this time, Matt stayed home for some rest. The boardwalk had some serious surf crashing into it at places as well.

We all ended up meeting back at the house around 4:45 to grab a snack and some warmer clothes before heading to our evening outing. The local fútbol team had a home game tonight and tickets were cheap so we headed there for their game which started at 5. The game was very fun, unfortunately the home team, Palamós FC didn't win even though they had a 2-0 lead during the 2nd half. The game ended in a 2-2 draw, but was fun nevertheless.

When we got back from the game Matt and Jen made fajitas for dinner and then we all did some dancing before settling down for bed.

(Parent note: the highlight of the day for many was the surprise brownie mix the parents picked up at the store last night and hid away until making them this afternoon. While delicious, the fighting over the last pieces almost led to Bitch Mint distribution, so they likely will be the last brownies of the trip. Fortunately chocolate croissants are still abundant!)

Tune in tomorrow for more!

- Connor
