Recovery Day (02/08/2024)

Hello all,

Today was an incredibly cold and wet day here in Lisbon, Portugal. It would appear that our good weather luck has run out for at least a couple days as it had not only been forecast to, but has rained here since around 9AM this morning. This rainy weather is pretty normal for this time of year in Portugal and the fact that we had over a week of only sunshine was pretty spectacular.

Either way, we decided yesterday that today would be a day to recover. Especially since so far on this trip we have averaged around 25,000-35,000 steps a day. This meant that for most it was a great time to catch up on sleep and Connor, Kayla, Griffin, and Gage all did just that. With the earliest of them waking up around 11AM. Once everyone except Griffin was out of bed, we took a trip to the Aldi near our Airbnb to pick up some things for lunch.

When we got back from Aldi, made and ate lunch, we started some games throughout our afternoon and evening. We involved everyone except Griffin (who was still in bed) in a game of scrabble. The game basically consisted of Jen playing for Kayla, Gage, and Connor, while my dad played by himself and also somehow managed to win. We followed that with some quiet time where Kayla and Connor applied for some jobs and Kayla now has an interview on Monday (cross your fingers it goes well). Connor is still on the hunt and is looking for job opportunities in water resources starting April 15th and located in the greater Twin Cities Metro area (Wink Wink :) ).

The Job Search (Also Griffin finishing the Blog update from Tuesday

There was then one more Aldi run to grab some dinner items and also to grab any final things for our last full day in Lisbon, Portugal tomorrow. We won't actually be spending the day in Lisbon. We will actually be travelling to the small town of Obidos located around 60 miles straight north of Lisbon for another day-trip.

We wrapped up the night with some 500 where Kayla and Connor (but mostly Kayla) taught Matt, Jen, Griffin, and Gage the game. By the end they were all professionals. But most important of all, Connor, Gage, and Jen won 6 handed 500.

Playing/Teaching 500

(Kayla note: Matt and Kayla then played kings corner after everyone else went to bed and Connor left to write the blog and she would like it known that she did win ONE game of cards today :) )
