Today, some of us had a late start, meanwhile others had a much earlier start. Mom and Nana Andi went out to a bakery place and got some sort of bread thing that was really good. (Parent note: Nana actually slept through this outing. And it was focaccia from the only bakery in town - which apparently is only open on weeeknds during the off-season. We got several different kinds to try. Delicious!). After breakfast, everyone except Griffin(who was a little tired after last night), went walked to the nearby town just south of Bonassola, called Levanto.
The walk took us through a tunnel that went underneath the mountain that was the fence between the towns. The entire walk to Levanto was through this tunnel, but every so often there was a break in the tunnel and you could look out over the ocean, and the water was super clear.
Also in these breaks in the tunnels, there were often streams that would feed from the mountain into the sea. The water in the sea was super clear too.
Once we got to Levanto, we went and checked out three different grocery stores that each closed at 1. We got into town at 12:10. So we were rushing from store to store, trying to figure out lunch and dinner.
Levanto itself is a very charming little town on the ocean with three times as many grocery stores as Bonassola, meaning 3. (Parent note: the main reason we went to Levanto today is that its grocery stores were open; the tiny little Bonassola store does not open on Sunday.)
We then returned back to the apartment with backpacks full of groceries and much wine. We expected to come home to find Griffin in bed watching TV, but instead we found him out on the local soccer field, practicing. We went back to the apartment to eat lunch, but as we were making our various lunches, the power went out. That’s right, all power in the apartment, gone.
So we had to call over the owner of the apartment and figure it out, which meant that Griffin had to leave again. So Griffin, Connor, Kayla, and I went over to the field to wait it out and mess around a little. While we over there we met this kind little kid named Mateo, and he kicked the ball around with us for a little while until we got the power back on and we’re able to continue making lunch.
After lunch, Mom, Dad, and the Nanas went out on this hike up the mountain towards Levanto. The hike had many beautiful views.

The rest of us stayed behind and had a nice quiet afternoon.
When they returned from their hike, Nana found some mints with the label scratched off, and so... I wrote the magic words, “BITCH MINTS”. And so they became, the Bitch Mints were BACK!!!
There was then a lengthy discussion about the Bitch Mints in which many instances where Mints were awarded were discussed. (Parent note: with Griffin loudly arguing his case that many of his mints were underserved, and others who had deserved mints had not received them. Primarily mom, dad and Connor, apparently.)
After the discussion, Dad started making dinner, and in the process of making dinner, the power went out again… twice. (Parent note: I think it was four times. We learned the hard way we need to cook with one burner at a time!)
He got dinner finished and we ate some delicious fresh pasta with many different sauces. We cleaned up the dishes and people trickled into their beds.
